The 2026 Snowy Soles Snowshoe Race certainly was a challenging one this year! It was the coldest day of the winter so far (-28C), and with over 30cm of new snow in the past week, it was not easy running. Fortunately all that snow allowed us to use the Loop de Loop section of the Goodrich Loomis trails, which is our favourite part of the trail system.
For the men, Bernie Hogan took the win on the 6.5km course in a stellar time of 32:38. Jack Turner was second in 35:26, and Jack's dad Joe Turner (who was the original Race Director of the Brighton Snowshoe Race over 10 years ago) was third in 36:21.

The top 3 women were only separated by 60 seconds, with Julie Schneider coming in for the win in 54:37, Sherri Hogeboom in second at 55:09, and Lisa Leskien at third in 55:37.
For the Masters Category, Bryan Lambert was the top male in 45:48, and Sandra Weichel was the top female in 1:13:50.
It's always a good time at Goodrich Loomis- it's such a beautiful park, and we feel so fortunate to get to hold this race there.
A huge thank you to race directors Naomi Coker and Erin McDougall from Dirty Soles Trail Running and their amazing team of volunteers for organizing this great event!

Special thanks to our series sponsors:
The next race in the Dion Canadian Snowshoe Series is the Kawartha Lakes Snowshoe Race, scheduled for February 1, 2026. This will also be the Canadian National Snowshoe Running
Championships. Registration spots are still available, so be sure to sign up now!
Congratulations and thank you to everyone who raced, volunteered, and supported this year’s Snowy Soles!
