The 2026 Kawartha Lakes Snowshoe Race took place on Sunday, February 1 in Fenelon Falls, ON. This race was also designated as the 2026 Canadian Snowshoe Running Championships.
The 10km snowshoe race offered a $1000 cash prize purse (courtesy of Snowshoe Canada) to the top 3 male and top 3 female finishers in the Open Category. With this also being the Canadian National Championships, there was an additional $500 prize purse (courtesy of Spafford Health and Adventure) awarded to the top 3 male and top 3 female Canadian athletes.
Competitors in the 10km snowshoe race were also awarded points towards the Dion Canadian Snowshoe Series.
A 5km snowshoe race was also held, as well as a 5km and 10km trail shoe race (without snowshoes).
The race took place on a spectator friendly course at the beautiful Eganridge Resort Golf Course.

Men’s Open 10km Snowshoe Race:
2025 World Snowshoe Running Champion, Eliot Soderholm from Paul Smith’s College, NY ran a spectacular race to finish first in a blistering time of 41:35. Julien Pinsonneault of Saint-Hyacinthe, QC finished second in 44:01, followed by Bernie Hogan of Bancroft, ON in 49:39. Bryan Lambert of Newburgh, ON was the top master in a time of 69:03.

Women’s Open 10km Snowshoe Race:
Rachel Thiessen of Ottawa, ON was the top female finisher in a solid time of 60:54. Rachel Jewett of Uxbridge, ON finished second in 63:23, followed by Lauren Negrazis of Mississauga, ON in third in 70:13. Lisa Leskien of Sydenham, ON was top female master in 79:40.

Men’s 5km Snowshoe Race:
Pete Quivilon won the 5km in a time of 28:50. Brock Boissey finished second in 32:35, followed by Jon Young in third in 37:53. Top male master was Paul Raymond in 58:43.
Women’s 5km Snowshoe Race:
Morgan Cheney won the women’s race in a time of 35:54. Chloe Freund finished second in 41:09, followed by Joanna Kerchner in third in 44:42. Jacqueline Doig was the top female master in 45:05.

The final races in the Dion Canadian Snowshoe Series will be held this weekend with the Snownergie Snowshoe Race in Boischatel QC and Summerstown Forest Snowshoe Race in Summerstown, ON both held on Saturday; and the Yukon Snowshoe Race in Whitehorse, Yukon held on Sunday.
