2023 Dion Summerstown Forest Snowshoe Race - Results
Congratulations to everyone who took part in the 9th Annual Dion Summerstown Forest Snowshoe Race held near Cornwall, Ontario today.
This was the fifth race in the Dion Canadian Snowshoe Series.
Two events were held with the 7.7km series points race, where points were awarded for the national series, as well as a 4.4km non-points race. Conditions were great over the beautiful rolling courses.
7.7km Dion Canadian Snowshoe Series - Points Race:
Bernie Hogan of Bancroft won the men’s 7.7km race in a time of 35:43. Rob Lafebrve of Williamstown finished second in a time of 37:40, while Mathieu Dore of Australia was third in 37:58. Charley Murphy of Toronto was the top Master Male (over 40yrs) in a time of 38:11.
Lise Meloche of Chelsea, Quebec finished first in the women’s 7.7km race in a time of 46:25. Katy Murphy of Toronto finished second in 50:29, followed by Francis Seale in third in 52:24. Judy Andrew-Piel of Ottawa was the top Women’s Master (over 40yrs) in a time of 53:21
4.4km Non-Series Race:
Pete Quevillon of Chatham won the men’s 4.4km race in 23:16. Michael Bricteau of Montreal, Quebec finished second in 29:03, followed by John Warner of Summerstown in third in 46:55. Curtis Penney of Kingston, was the top master in the men’s race in 60:52.
Megan Poulin of Chelsea, Quebec finished first in the 4.4km women’s race (also finishing in first overall), in a time of 23:09. Jen Gareau of Williamstown was second in the women’s race in 27:58, followed by Mel McGrath of Monkland in 34:34. Clare Gallant of Pakenham was the top master in the women’s race in 38:52.
