2020 DION Winter Goose Chase Snowshoe Race - Results

The Dion Winter Goose Chase Snowshoe Race took place on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Shades Mills Conservation Area in Cambridge, Ontario. A huge congratulations to everyone who participated!

The weather was not cooperative all week leading up to the race, but a huge accumulation of snow the night before the race insured that the race would be held with snowshoes on great conditions.

The mens race featured a battle between elite snowshoe racers Nick Best of Toronto and Bernie Hogan of Bancroft, with Nick Best coming out on top in 29:49 over the 6.8km course. Hogan’s time was 30:23 to take second place. Third place went to Scott Clark of Simcoe in 34:04.

In the women’s race, Vicki Zandbergen of Kitchener took top honours in a time of 40:41. Second place went to Danielle Ryzer of Aurora in 40:57, followed by Jen Kellett of Cambridge in third in 44:54.

Points were awarded for each participant in the race towards the Dion Ontario Snowshoe Running Series.

A huge thank you to race directors Lisa and Greg Leskien and their team of volunteers for putting together an amazing snowshoe race once again. A special thank you to all race sponsors as well.

The next race in the Dion Ontario Snowshoe Running Series will be the Dion Summerstown Forest Snowshoe Race near Cornwall, Ontario. Online registration is still available, and there will be race day registration available also.
