The Land O'Lakes Winter Ultra is a unique challenge coming to the beautiful Land O' Lakes Eastern Ontario Region of Eastern, Ontario, Canada. We're excited to bring this style of northern winter race with three disciplines to choose from (foot, bike, or ski) to the area.
Taking advantage of a vast natural area filled with pristine lakes nestled among rolling, forested hills, the race course will provide a natural setting full of beauty and wonder. It will be entirely on crown land just north of Bon Echo Provincial Park, deep in the wilds of the Addington Highlands, with periodic aid opportunities yet few if any road crossings. Winter in this region offers the ultimate playground, with typical snow depths extending the season into the sunshine filled days of late winter and early spring.
SUMMARY INFORMATION (tentative)
March 7-8, 2020 at 8:00 am
Note this is the weekend of the 'spring forward' time change.
The race course is being carefully developed over winter of 2018-19, and is planned to use trails in the wide swath of rugged back country between Ferguson's Corners and McArthur Mills, and potentially points beyond. It will be an out-and-back format, and more information will follow shortly.
We plan to use GPS tracking for the race. More information to follow. Cell coverage in the area is spotty in places.
Exact distances still being determined with route planning activity.
Shorter Race - 40 to 60 km
Longer Race - 100 to 160 km
Will open March 1, 2019. Longer Race capped at 60 participants for 2020.
Race fees will be posted shortly.
