Congratulations to everyone who ran in the 2008 Sydenham Fall 8km!
A record of 230 runners and walkers were registered for this 4th annual race held on the Cataraqui Trail along the shoreline of Sydenham Lake.
We certainly lucked out on the weather. While it was a little breezy for the final 4km, everyone managed to stay dry on the trail and the sun even poked it's head out for a few minutes. Conditions were much better than were forecasted.
Jodi Wendland was the first place female finisher posting a new course record of 30:50. Daun Lynch finished second in a time of 31:07, while Margarita Sviajina finished third in 32:59. The top female master's runner (over 40yrs) was Nancy Coke of Ottawa in 34:22.
Paul Chafe (former Sydenham High School runner) won the men’s race in a time of 25:39. Taylor Murphy of Napanee was second in 25:58. Chafe and Murphy reversed their positions from the 2007 race. Mihira Lakshman of Toronto finished third in 27:44. Rick Hellard of Ottawa was the top male master's runner (over 40yrs) in a time of 28:03.
